February Technical Meeting
Despite the forecast for snow, 18 Hawkeye Chapter members joined us today for the February Technical Meeting. Justin Slapnicka (Holmes Murphy) presented practical ideas for improving your company’s safety incident reporting program. He mentioned that FEAR and management’s REACTION were the two major reasons why employees are afraid to report safety incidents in a timely fashion. Employees must feel free to report issues without temper tantrums or retaliation. Additionally, the management team must be careful with their feedback to avoid stifling response (or micromanaging the situation).
Prior to the meeting, the Hawkeye Chapter members present voted unanimously to accept the Bylaw Amendments that were proposed (related to the ASSE to ASSP name change that takes place in early June of this year).
