A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

Providing leadership and direction in establishing and achieving a meaningful H&S vision and effective strategies through management Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to provide leadership and presence at our Fort Dodge, IA facility. The H&S Manager provides leadership and direction by collaborating with front-line leaders and business partners to develop H&S and PSM strategies aligning with Georgia-Pacific’s visions. H&S Managers are dedicated to developing and mentoring the production team relating to H&S. Value is created by ensuring risk is aggressively identified and mitigated. The H&S Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Division H&S Manager.

The Georgia-Pacific facility in Fort Dodge produces gypsum wallboard products. Fort-Dodge has a team-based environment whose members work collaboratively to produce high-quality building products.

  • Commitment and employee ownership
  • Supporting and developing Compliance System Owners – CSOs (operations & maintenance personnel that manage critical hazards)
  • Ensuring leaders and employees are trained and equipped to manage safety
  • Facilitating H&S ownership and accountability by the line organization
  • Assisting the site population in the building of the Process Safety Management system
  • Sharing and seeking out knowledge
  • Ensuring change is identified and proactively and effectively managed
  • Driving continuous improvement by leveraging tools and activities, including: self-assessments and audit processes; incident/near miss investigations; metrics and targets and periodic reviews of performance, culture, and talent
  • Communicating facility H&S vision, strategies, and performance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assisting in return-to-work strategy implementation
  • Utilizing training and development plans to grow H&S knowledge and skills
  • Developing and managing investments in risk mitigation projects from approval to implementation

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in H&S Management, Engineering, Technical Field OR five (5) or more years’ experience in an H&S Management, Engineering or similar technical role
  • Two (2) or more years of H&S experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical process environment OR a current Georgia Pacific ELP
  • Willing and able to work nights and weekends

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Policy or Chemistry
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.), CSP or CIH or demonstrated progress towards achieving certification/s
  • Experience in leading culture change and developing/implementing management systems
  • Experience and understanding of OSHA regulations
  • Experience, understanding in methods of implementing Process Safety Management Elements
  • Experience and understanding of national consensus standards (ANSI, NFPA, etc.)
  • Previous leadership experience

UFG is looking for a Risk Control Product Specialist to play a critical role in developing resources to positively impact the services provided to our customers. This will include preparation of training materials, bulletins, white papers, on-demand training resources for websites and apps, and telephone risk control support services. Also the Risk Control Products Specialist will provide social media strategies to promote risk control services and campaigns.  

 
This position can be located at our corporate headquarters in Cedar Rapids, IA or within the Midwest.
 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Provide excellent customer service. This individual will positively impact our award-winning customer service in a variety of ways including developing client use materials and deliverables for policyholders, agents, risk control reps, and underwriting. Also assist in the development of on-demand training programs and materials for policyholders and agents.
  • Technical resource expert. The right candidate will provide risk control technical advice for policyholders, agency partners and internal departments. Other responsibilities include training sessions and group seminars to policyholders, agents and internal departments. 
  • Team player. Help build positive business relationships by working closely with risk control, underwriting and marketing personnel.  

 

Qualifications:

  • Four year college degree
  • Six to ten years of risk control experience
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • The ability to write technical papers, write white papers, and create industry alerts
  • Experience in analytics
  • Strong Technical knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, NFPA, FMCR, ANSI, and ASTM standards.
  • Knowledge in social media services and strategies
  • High degree of organizational and planning skills
  • Good understanding of workers compensation, general liability, product liability, auto, property, inland marine coverage’s and exposures and understanding of how to reduce/correct hazards
  • Experience in making presentations to small and large groups
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
