Four ASSE Chapters are teaming up together on Thursday May 10th to bring you the

2018 Multi-Chapter Professional Development Conference (PDC)

at the Pioneer Carver Hi-Bred Center (Johnston, IA)


The Hawkeye Chapter is teaming up with the Northeast Iowa Chapter, the Quad Cities Chapter, and the Great Plains Chapter to bring you an exciting multi-chapter PDC.

This year’ s conference will be an incredible day, filled with two keynote speakers and multiple breakout sessions.  There will also be vendors on hand who are excited to share how they can help your safety program, and you will also have plenty of opportunities to network with like-minded safety professionals from your area.

Building Up The Safety Profession – Starting With Ourselves

This talk is about what we can do to build our profession not tear it down.  We will explore a number of topics including: Personal Preparation Organizational Preparation Spreadsheet of competencies Teach, buy, rent OSHA Standards as they apply to you New Perspectives in Risk Assessment – Adding a third Dimension  Future of BBS The Power of Today Come and have a little fun.  (Invite your boss they might just learn a thing or two.)


Elevating Safety: Reduce Falls By Following Ladder “Best Practices”
Speaker: Dave Francis (National Safety Director, Little Giant Ladder Systems)

The presentation covers Ladder Safety, Inspections, Resources available and Solutions to ladder related problems.

Participants will learn: 1. How to choose the right ladder for the job 2. Proper Inspection 3. Safe Set up and Climbing 4. Best practices for reducing ladder related injuries.



Breakout sessions include:

  • Emerging workplace safety issues, potential liabilities, and risk mitigation
  • Active shooter? – How to stay safe and prevent workplace violence
